My Philosophy
Hi I’m Vanessa!
My mission is to serve as an advocate for the human body, amplifying the voices of those experiencing pain.
I am a passionate neuromuscular massage therapist proudly serving the Bay Area community for six years.
I strive to empower individuals to recognize their innate healing potential and facilitating structural alignment to create equality and balance within the body.
My Approach
A transformative journey
Clients often describe my bodywork as more than a service; it's a lifestyle, a mindset, and a transformative journey toward understanding movement and simplifying the understanding of your anatomy.
Who I help
My touch is diverse and I work with an array of clients from Stanford University students, pro athletes, children, seniors, pre/post-surgery, techies, families and people with disabilities/ chronic pain including lupus and fibromyalgia.
Techniques for self-healing
Having navigated my own share of pain and injuries, I've learned invaluable insights and techniques for self-healing which have lead me to live a happy healthy life. Now my mission is to share what I’ve learned about inner wellness with the world.
My Journey
After my fair share of debilitating injuries from being a competitive skydiver and feeling so disempowered and confused by the medical system, I forged a new perspective on life, on movement, on the human body.
The pain and suffering led me here and I learned so much from my own body and the practitioners I’ve met along the way.
Now I have devoted my life to this cause and sharing the things that I’ve seen help my clients, and me.
I think the most powerful practitioners are those who have personally experienced pain and dysfunction, and then gotten themselves out of it.
Some concepts I believe in:
Breath
Breath is a foundational pillar of wellness and postural alignment.
“The body is tissue wrapped around breath” - Ida Rolf
Functional movement
Being able to move more freely in your body without fear or pain.
Down-regulate nervous system
We are in a constant SYMPATHETIC “fight-or-flight” mode in today’s culture. It’s become our base-line setting as humans, and we are NOT meant to permanently operate here.
We need our PARASYMPATHETIC mode to heal, to rest, to digest, and even to feel mentally well. Massage induces this state of mind gently and relieves the physical/mental anxiety around it.
Facial lines
Fascia forms the largest system in the body as it is the system that touches ALL other systems. This web-like network of fascia creates connective tissue lines in the body where gravitational forces balance.
The human body is like a house. It is built so that each part has its proper place, and each piece interlocks to balance the others.
Your health is your WEALTH
Learning to receive and give our bodies the help and support it needs to feel well. Learning to love yourself through self-care. Make it a priority in your life. We drink, eat, and consume things that slowly kill us…but we are unable to make space, time, and money for things that help us be well?
We must bridge the gap between our mind and body and learn to understand its language.
